Views of the Pacheedaht Campground, Port Renfrew by Nathan Jones

The Pacheedaht campground is close to the head of the West Coast Trail at Gordon River. I took these pictures with a Rollei 35 miniature viewfinder camera (the smallest 35 mm film camera in the world when it was released in 1966—and an ideal hiking partner) the day before I departed Port Renfrew by bus for Pachena Bay, near Bamfield, to begin my north-south hike of the trail in mid-August, 2021. The film lay partially exposed in the camera for almost two years before I finally got around to finishing the roll and dropping it off at my local lab the day before yesterday.

Hike to Lynn Peak by Nathan Jones

I hiked to the summit of Lynn Peak on Saturday and took pictures along the way. I think there's a lot more hiking in my future and, hopefully, a dramatic improvement in my ability to photograph the natural world. The combination of a Nikon D600 body and Sigma 35 mm/f1.4 lens (1.28 kg; 2.82 lb) is a little too heavy to serve as my preferred setup for these hikes -- especially when more than 1,000 m of climbing are involved.
