The Rollei 35 is small and light enough to fit into the back pocket of my cycling jersey. I now take it on every ride. Jericho Beach sailing centre at left; railway crossing at No. 7 Rd. at right.
The Pacheedaht campground is close to the head of the West Coast Trail at Gordon River. I took these pictures with a Rollei 35 miniature viewfinder camera (the smallest 35 mm film camera in the world when it was released in 1966—and an ideal hiking partner) the day before I departed Port Renfrew by bus for Pachena Bay, near Bamfield, to begin my north-south hike of the trail in mid-August, 2021. The film lay partially exposed in the camera for almost two years before I finally got around to finishing the roll and dropping it off at my local lab the day before yesterday.
Hard morning light at the height of summer.
